Dr Janine David qualified as a GP in 2001 and specialises in Men’s and Women’s sexual health. She has been a GP partner in Portway Surgery, Porthcawl for the past 12 years. She became a GP trainer in 2005. She is secretary of the Primary Care Testosterone Advisory Group (www.PCTAG.uk) and is a member of the British, European and International Societies of Sexual Medicine (BSSM, ESSM & ISSM).
Dr David developed a special interest in Men’s and Women’s sexual health in 2013 and has since completed the Multidisciplinary Joint Committee of Sexual Medicine (MJCSM) course. She has successfully passed the associated exam which now makes her a Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM); the highest qualification you can achieve in this field making her the only active GP in Wales to hold this qualification.
She has an interest in testosterone deficiency and testosterone therapy. She is a regular speaker, both on the national and international stage about sexual dysfunction and is actively involved in clinical research and has recently published data in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
She is a co-author of the Men’s Health Guidelines for General Practice and has run clinical audits within her NHS practice to identify ways to improve the health of her patients in this often-overlooked area.
Professor Hugh Jones is a Consultant Physician in general internal medicine, diabetes and endocrinology at Barnsley Hospital. He is also an Honorary Professor of Andrology in the Department of Human Metabolism the University of Sheffield Medical School, Sheffield, UK and Hon. Consultant Endocrinologist at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield.
Prof. Jones is a clinical and laboratory researcher, looking into the role of testosterone in the pathogenesis and treatment of various conditions and pathologies. His major scientific discoveries are many and varied including for example determining the mechanisms of action of testosterone as an arterial vasodilator (L-channel calcium blocker).
He was elected to the European Academy of Andrology and is a co-chair of the testosterone and metabolic disorders group as part of the International Consultation on Men’ Health and Infertility to be submitted to the WHO). He is a Member of the European Association of Urology Guideline committee for Male Hypogonadism and Chair of Academic sub-committee of ABCD.
